The State of Espírito Santo is geographically located in southeast of Brazil and due to this privileged position, the Port Complex can offer a reliable quick and direct transfer of cargo to and from the vast in-land areas of Brazil which include the States of Minas Gerais, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Goiás, Tocantins, Federal District, South of Bahia and North of Rio de Janeiro, where approximately 35% of the Brazilian GDP is concentrated.
Generally speaking, the Port Complex is served by one of the most efficient railroad system in Brazil, the Vitória-Minas Railroad owned and operated by the largest mining company in the world, CVRD. This rail system is comprised of over 1860km of track and carries a wide variety of cargoes ranging from bulk material to general cargo. The ports are also served by motorways which put the cities of Belo Horizonte (550km), Salvador (1200km) and Rio de Janeiro (550km) whithin easy access.
The State Port Complex itself is formed by public and private terminals.
